Greeting in His Name,
On the write again, just can't wait to get on the write again, the life I love is writing for my friends... I just can't wait to write again. This tune hit my head as I began to write. Willie Nelson's song - One The Road Again - with my own little spin to it. I have been waiting for this burst of energy to sit down and write a little something-something. Or at least pull some old material and update it. It is my plan to release an issue for May - June - July - August and September before September is out. So with that being said, today's blog is entitled Are We There Yet? Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
The title of this publication should cause your mind to go “Oh yeah, that’s the movie with those meddlesome kids”. That’s the movies alright, released in 2005 centered around a bachelor who finds himself attracted to a single mom. The story is filled with jokes, playful nightmares (especially for those who have not experienced parenthood) and tricks. Life can be just as eventful, but that’s not where we are headed. I also thought about an actual journey and how we all have been brought to the point of, ‘ARE WE THERE YET?’. Personal journey’s in life, like a child excited to get to an amusement park, an adult long awaited meeting with family and friends, a teenager heading out to his/her first PaRtY, or a young adult heading to college or their first big job opportunity. Whatever the excitement, we all long to get there. But yet again that’s really not what the title is all about. You may be saying by now yourself, “Heidi are we there yet?”. And my reply would be, “we are”. What I wanted to look at is our day to day walk with God and struggles that often come with it. Many times I have to tell myself you are not there yet. And what I mean by not being there yet is: am I mature? Do I still wrestle with “really” loving everybody? Do I try to tease God by trying to do everything right with wrong motives? Do I go the extra mile or do I complain that that’s too far. I could go on and on right here and get stuck on my stuff. I can get stuck because we all have things about ourselves we are wrestling with. In the King James version of the Bible, Galatians 6:3 says, For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. In the Message Bible, same book, verses 1-3 says, Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived. You know all it takes is one crazy event in life and you will say ‘I thought I had that covered. I thought I had grown pass that.’ It is so important to pray for ourselves without ceasing. This scripture warns that before any day is out you may need forgiveness so it is very important to not shun other people when they are facing their dilemma. Everyday we should awake to the realization that we are not there yet, but are striving for perfection/maturity.
Some years ago while in seminary I read a book entitled Old Testament Ethics for the People of God. In this book I learned a new term, teleology, that fits right in with what we are talking about. Teleology is the study of purpose, ends, or goals. My reason for using the statement ‘are we there yet?’ is to not get us to a specific destination in the natural sense but that we re-direct our spiritual nature so that it affects our human nature, our direction in life.

Our lives can be just like this picture, filled with many twist and turns, going nowhere. But if we allow God to be our focus, our compass, He will put us on a straight and narrow path. He will direct our footsteps. He will focus our minds, and we will go to the place He has destined. Personally, I have to admit that I make life hard for myself sometimes. I often feel I have to know everything up front which leaves no room for me to allow God to just walk me through it or to it. This is one of my ‘are we there yet?’ peeves. But I know that no matter what our hang-ups may be, if we consult with the Counselor, He will give us life-changing advice.
I want to close with this scripture. Matthew 5:48 KJV Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Be whole, complete, mature for God your Father is whole, complete, mature. This word ‘MATURE” has gotten stuck in my spirit just like a piece of annoying meat that gets stuck in your teeth! Dental floss won’t even remove it. I need the Master hygienist Himself. I am often faced with dilemmas that make me question my trust, faith and belief in God. But I have to tell myself God is real and He is yet alive. He is interceding right now on all of our behalf. And the enemy, old Lucifer the trickster himself, will try to pollute the minds of believer with doubt and confusion. But I declare and decree that he is what the Word says he is, A LIE! In order for us to truly put ourselves in line we will have to make up our minds to truly sell out for God. Make the commitment today with me. Matthew 16:24-26 MSG Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat; I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for? The scripture says Jesus went to work on His disciples. If you are called amongst those who believe in an all-knowing, all-seeing, great God—Jehovah then make it your business to stay open for repair. Let Him work on you, I will.
Personal Expression: Often I go back over some of the previous publications and say “GIRL, you wrote that—NOW take your own advice!” Writing brings me joy but when I can live what I write about then, and only then, can I say I have accomplished something. Tears flow when I think about His goodness and my staleness. God shared with me just recently during prayer, Isaiah 64:4. Read it at your leisure. And as someone shared with me, feast on it! God has GR8 things in store for believers—the prophetic word is WAIT ON IT!
