Volume 12 Issue 10

Greeting in His Name,

God says this twice in the book of Revelation, "I know your works!" For the Ephesian church, God questions their love. With the Laodicean church, God questions their faithfulness. It is so prevalent in our society to 'so-called' give God his props with our mouths, but our actions, or as the scripture says, our hearts, are so far from it. Roberta Flack released a song the year after I was born entitled Where Is the Love? The song says, "Where is the love? You said you'd give to me. As soon as you were free. Will it ever be? Where is the love? Church Folk! Bible Believers, does God know your works? Are you counterfeiting as faithfully in love with the master, or are you faithfully in love with yourself? So, with that being said, today's blog is entitled Are You A Counterfeit Christian? Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.

shalom and love,

heidi

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then, because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth (Revelations 3:15-16 KJV). Counterfeit means to try to deceive by dissembling, made in imitation of something else with intent to deceive, something likely to be mistaken for something of higher value—IMPOSTOR! In a world where man will do anything to make things happen for himself, we Christians must stand for right and truth. But how can we draw the world with TRUTH when CHRISTIANS mirror the image of the world where they see no difference? The Message version gives us a brutally honest translation of this scripture: I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You're not cold, you're not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You're stale. You're stagnant. You make me want to vomit. God is looking for genuine believers to give work orders to. Who are real believers? Those who are hot, on FIRE for the Lord; those that may seem extreme, too loud, too bold, too direct, and at the same time... humble.

There's not much to say about a Counterfeit Christian other than God is displeased with your appearance. Some may refer to them as hypocrites. John would cry aloud, "REPENT"! A Counterfeit Christian is lukewarm. No taste! Just think about a lukewarm beverage. Not too satisfying, huh? Well, the same is true for Christians who have yet to decide to be sold out for our Savior; they are not satisfied. Christ is not enough. Perhaps the image of what a Christian should be has been distorted for them. It could be easier to be an imposture; they get the best of both worlds, so they think. If this is you, I encourage you because all of us have been an impostor. Change! I would hate for you to get to heaven and God tell you to depart; he never knew you because He never saw His authentic appearance in you.

Christians look like Christ. So ask yourself, do I look like Christ? You may wonder, how do we know what Christ looked like? Is there an actual reference to His appearance? I say yes. Your character is a reflection of your appearance. As I describe Him, place yourself in front of the mirror of Jesus and ask yourself, "do I look like HIM?" His appearance was meek (Matthew 11:29), humble (Matthew 26:66-68), loving (John 21:15-17), and forgiving (Luke 23:33-35), to name a few. Let's look at "loving". If we look at Peter and his denial of the Savior, not just once but three times, we think - COUNTERFEIT! Bold, loud, direct Peter. He not only denied Christ but lied in the same breath. But in this passage, Peter was redeemed. Jesus asked him if he loved Him three times because Peter denied Him three times. God knew Peter loved Him from the first time. He knew Peter wasn't a Counterfeit Christian. Why? Because of his repentant heart. Can Jesus say that about you? Take time to repent now. Declare yourself a genuine, certified, Holy Ghost-filled Christian.

LIFE QUOTE

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

-George Orwell

Let Us Laugh!

An engineer dies and reports to the Pearly Gates. Saint Peter checks his dossier and, not seeing his name there, accidentally sends him to Hell. It doesn't take long before the engineer becomes rather dissatisfied with the level of comfort in Hell.

He soon begins to design and build improvements. Shortly thereafter, Hell has air conditioning, flush toilets, and escalators. Needless to say, the engineer is a pretty popular guy.

One day, God calls Satan and says: "So, how are things in Hell?"

Satan replies: "Hey, things are going great. We've got air conditioning, flush toilets, and escalators. And there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next."

"What!" God exclaims: "You've got an engineer? That's a mistake - he should never have been sent to Hell. Send him to me."

"Not a chance," Satan replies: "I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him!"

God insists: "Send him back or I'll sue."

Satan laughs uproariously and answers: "Yeah, right. And where are you going to get a lawyer? ; )

Hope to see you Next Month....
