Greeting in His Name,
I hope the last blog was delightfully informative. It has truly been a joy to sit before God and let him pour into my spirit what I believe is a concern of his in regards to the body of Christ. Today's blog is entitled Disconnect Notice. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
A disconnect notice is something most of us have received and experienced; a notice to cut off service that we may use on a daily basis. I want to delve into another side of disconnect. The side where we intentionally cut off the world and its devices – DISCONNECT – and connect to the spiritual side that is hungry for some spiritual activation.
This blog was birth out of a time of disconnect. While in a shut-in, what I now call a sacred time of extended disconnect, as a church we centered ourselves in the presence of God, to receive some instructions and guidance. And in that time I had an epiphany – an experience of a sudden and striking realization – right in that moment I could see that the natural thought of disconnect had collided with the spiritual revelation that God was giving me. In that moment I began to rehearse the many times that Jesus stilled away to have some ‘ME’ (ministry empowerment) time. I began to question my own ineffectiveness due to my lack of stilling away.
Has it been a while since you disconnected? Are you sputtering about aimlessly on fumes? Or are you on the side of the spiritual road dead because you are empty? I tell you God can resuscitate, refuel, and boost you if you just still away. Let’s disconnect…
If you disconnect you will find the ability to share the GOoD new. (Mark 1:35)
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. The more I read scripture the more I see a ‘what happen was’ story that follows Jesus after he prays. It should be unavoidable that we can come out of a sacred time of prayer and not expect that something is going to happen. Something supernatural. Something extraordinary. Something life changing. When Jesus came out of this time of prayer he told his disciples that they should travel someplace else so that he could preach. So that he could do what he was purposed to do and that was to share the GOoD news. I understand that we all are not called to preach per se but we are all called or have the ability to share the good news. If there is any hesitation or any inability to do this then I encourage you to spend some time disconnecting. It is my earnest belief that when we say yes to Jesus and follow him wholeheartedly then Matthew 28; the Great Commission – ‘to go’ becomes our commission and with prayer it becomes easier and easier to do. The disciples, right before receiving the Great Commission, were asked to come to a secluded spot on a mountain in Galilee. It was there, disconnected from society that they got their marching orders. It was there that they got their assignment and it was there that began the process to change the world forever. I ask, are you ready to climb the mountain and disconnect to connect?
If you disconnect you will find the ability to do supernatural works. (Mark 6:46)
After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. Everything that Jesus did was supernatural. Just before serving his disconnect notice – going up the mountainside to pray – Jesus had just feed the five thousand with five loaves of bread and two fish. After disconnecting he found himself walking on water, causing major shock to his disciples. It’s amazing that if we disconnect properly when we reconnect we bring a surge of God’s power and workings with us. Those workings may not be walking on water, feeding five thousand, healing and raising the dead. Sometimes it’s supernatural to just live right and have a desire to live right in this day and age. I shared with a fellow preacher, when we look at a congregation of people that we are sharing the gospel with, we are looking at an abundance of things we have to compete with. The world with all its glitz and supposed glamour, personal agendas, do we have it all motives and are we on the A-list versus’ a two thousand plus year old gospel; that some feel is not all true or antiquated. Now there is no competition really with the gospel but our problem is we don’t disconnect. It takes faith to believe that God can and will do the supernatural. But I am finding more and more our sin is prayerlessness. We need to move back to an urgent seeking of God and his will. To do that we must turn off! Turn off our cell phones, I-pads, Kindles, computers, laptops, TV’s, and any other communication device and let our wireless connection with God commence. As a matter of fact can we set a date to disconnect globally? Let’s call it a Disconnect to Connect Party! It is said that World Wide Web became global August 6, 1991. I think that date, August 6, 2019, would be awesome to show God that we want to disconnect to connect.
If you disconnect you will find the ability to sacrifice. (Mark 14:32)
They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” In this moment Jesus prepares to finish his work. He prepares by disconnecting. He knew the hour was at hand but he needed to be empowered to make the final sacrifice. In the garden is where he wrestled with his flesh that this time of suffering and sacrifice would pass. It is the same for us; no one really wants to go through. No one really wants to experience pain or hardship, but when you know that your obstacles have a definite date of termination you can say like Jesus, “not my will but thy will be done.” Just before the garden you have the supper. You have that moment to have a round table discussion with Jesus. If you could sit at the table with Jesus would he say that you would betray, deny or leave him? Hmm… when we neglect to disconnect it’s like betrayal, it’s like denial, it’s like leaving Jesus. We say all the time we know where our help comes from but we never hook up or should I say we hook up when we want, to get what we ‘think’ we want. Never considering the harm we do to ourselves by not connecting to God as often as we should. One of my favorite scriptures is John 4:34, when Jesus meets the woman at the well. Jesus tells his disciples when she leaves that his meat, his nourishment; his appetite is to do the will of the Father and to complete his work. I can’t wait to say I’m finished but in the mean time I have to still away, I have to sacrifice, I have to disconnect to connect in order to know and do the will of my Father.
Closing:
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16) It’s time for you to serve a disconnect notice to yourself. It’s time to separate from the things of this world that fill your days with interrupted, mundane attention snatchers to what is not all that important. Today! Make God Important! Disconnect – give him some time – you’ll love his service.

Let Us Laugh!
As the storm raged, the captain realized his ship was sinking fast. He called out, “Anyone here know how to pray?” One man stepped forward. “Aye, Captain, I know how to pray.” “Good,” said the captain, “you pray while the rest of us put on our life jackets – we’re one short.”
