Greeting in His Name,
I must say, when life throws you bananas make a split. And I don't mean leave [split] but I mean add some sweetness by dressing those events with the Word and prayer. It's scriptures like, "...Greater is He that is in you... that should energize and charge you when life events are not so favorable. The longer I live, the more I have come to realize the importance of being still, of waiting on the Great I Am. Today's blog is entitled Greater Is. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi

Thinking about the word great, I stand on the Mount of Olives looking over at the Promised Land; JERUSALEM, and get this sense of greatness. You feel like all the patriarchs who walked this land before you - oh how GREAT this is, to see a place destined and promised by God for His people. I also find myself looking at the great wonder of sandstone rock as I maneuver through the Siq in Jordan and coming out at the other end to the astounding Treasury like Indiana Jones, you get a sense of WOW! Greatness! But that doesn’t top it. Entering the land of Egypt, rounding a corner as we are heading to the hotel, THERE IT IS! The Great Pyramid and it’s two companions along with the Sphinx; now this was a WOW to the 10th power experience. Greatness! All of these were great experiences for me in years passed as I traveled to Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. But these experiences could never surpass the awesome coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. I just believe that even before Christ return we will see a greater move of God’s Spirit as we “Christians” yield ourselves to the awe inspiring work of the Holy Spirit; GREATER IS COMING!
Seeing the Light (2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV)
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. From my many travel experiences I always came back with a heart that had been changed in it’s thinking. Some places have given me the ability to see what I have read in scripture and it’s like a light bulb has been turned on in regards to the scripture. My eyes of understanding were not veiled before I left but it’s like a greater unveiling took place in my heart. Some places made me more aware of how crucial it is for us as Christians to expose the Light of Christ that is on the inside of us. If we do not share the Good News of Jesus Christ we are literally putting the light out. The Word tells me greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world; so as ambassadors of the light, we are to SHINE in the midst of Satan’s dark world. I mean every opportunity you get throw some shade on him; throw it, put him down where he already is.
Knowing the Treasure (2 Corinthians 4:15 NIV)
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Because the greater one lives on the inside of you that makes you very valuable. But that value is nothing if after going through troubles, perplexities, being hunted and knocked down, all the while suffering we don’t open our mouths and share the light of the glorious Gospel. Somebody needs to hear your testimony, your survival story. We not only stand in the face of death as we share Christ suffering but we stand in the benefit of eternal life. That great treasure shared brings about a great thanksgiving to all it’s shared with and even greater glory given to God.
Greater is Coming (2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV)
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Even though our eyes are to stay affixed on the day of Christ return, it is very important to live while doing it. As you face the next day, the next week, the next month, the next year expect greater out of your life. From this scripture we have learned that troubles will always exist but if we look into the light of the glorious Gospel we will soon realize who is in control; God—the Great I AM, then trouble will soon be gone.
Closing:
During one of my therapy sessions; cause travel is my therapy, I questioned why we went from Israel through Jordan and on to Egypt; seeing we were in Israel during a High Holy time for Jews which meant things SHUTDOWN. To think about it, if we had shutdown liked that, some months ago we may not be seeing the devastation we have seen with this virus. But at any rate, it would seem more logical to travel the other way around. In a sense I felt like I was missing out; but really I didn’t. I got to see this holiday season; restrictions and all, in full bloom as it may have been for the first Holy family. It made me appreciate the privilege I had been granted: to see his birth place (Bethlehem/Jordan), the place his parents had to flee to (Egypt) and most importantly I got to see the place of his death and resurrection (Jerusalem/Israel). So when life seems to be taking you the round about way; it's not. Because He is the way, the truth and the life... and if He is that, then I know Greater is Coming!!!!

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'. - Erma Bombeck
