Greeting in His Name,
I hope that you had a GREAT CHRISTMAS AND I HOPE YOU HAVE AN EXPLOSIVE NEW YEAR! I know that we have seen an up rise in the pandemic here lately and life seems a bit strained once again but I believe and know that God will see us through. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Today's blog is entitled I Need Some Light. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.

Walk in a spirit of expectation....
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
As we have just come out of the season of Advent, we were reminded of a Savior that came to bring us Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace. Jesus’ birth is a constant reminder of the magnitude of God’s love for a sin wretched people as ourselves. As we take a serious look into the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made we will realize that if he had not taken on flesh and dwelt amongst us we would have no hope, no love, no joy and no peace. We would definitely need some light.
Light is defined as something that makes vision possible. My God! Where there is no vision, the people perish. Meaning where there is no vision there is no productivity, there is no mobility, and there is no growth.
Jesus is the light of the world; therefore we need some light. We need some because we are in expectant mode that God is about to do some miraculous things in our midst. I challenge you to pray this week for a blessing. Don't take this request lightly but seriously seek the Lord for that blessing. It’s time to start listening, tuning in to that spiritual ear, as the scripture says he that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. More importantly what is he saying to you.
The scripture resounds with light. Matthew encourages us [4:16] the people living in darkness have seen a great light. Mark encourages us to not hide our light but display it. Luke says our eye is the lamp of the body, so if our eye is healthy our body is healthy. And John 1:5, the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. These are different aspects of light from the gospels but they let us know one thing --- without Jesus there would be no great light, without Jesus we would have nothing to display, without Jesus we would be unhealthy and without Jesus we would not overcome.
Because Jesus is the light of the world he makes visible or should I say he makes more clearly our Hope. So I want to share three things that light does:
Light illumines our way.
Light ignites us for service.
Light enables us to work.
I go back to John 8:12, When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Let’s look at light illumines our way. Jesus said in John, whoever follows me. There is no exclusion here, anyone can follow Jesus. Are you following Jesus? Some of the social media platforms have what we call followers. These are people who supposedly influence, -- interest, or vie for our attention. I had to step back for a moment and look at this thing from a spiritual standpoint. Who am I following? How much of my attention do these influencers get? Better yet, how much time do I waste giving them my attention? As a matter of fact, Matthew 5:16 says this, in the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. So, as a Christian we should be the influencers, we should be the one’s folks are interested in, why? Because the world needs some light; let me press on.
The scripture in John goes on to say, whoever follows me, will not walk in darkness. So, not only does light, illumine our way but it IGNITES us for service. Ephesians 5:14 declares “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” The Message version says it like this, wake up from your sleep, climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light. Sounds like service to me. People of God it’s time to shake off those pandemic grave clothes and get back to service. Don’t you know that as a child of God you are [1 Peter 2:9] a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession. God has made you that special so that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. I tell you, WE NEED SOME LIGHT! Why? Because it’s time to shine.
Lastly, Light enables us to work. You might say isn’t that the same as ignites us for service. NO! When something is ignited it has only been given a push to get started. The record is clear, some ignited folks --- fizzled out. The wick just started to burn and then one life event blows you out, or you see that the work of Christ – is - a - bed - of - roses - but there are some thorns in the midst. I have heard many say, 'anything worth having is worth fighting for.' So I ask you; is your relationship with Christ worth fighting for? Can you stand flat footed and declare for God I live and for God I die. Are your war clothes on people of God? Can you say like Timothy [1:12] I’m so grateful to Christ for making me adequate to do this work. And he goes on to say, and he considered me trustworthy. Know this you don’t have to worry about Jesus being discriminatory, He is an equal opportunity employer.
If you need some light remember Psalms 27, The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
If you need some light, remember Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
If you need some light, Micah encourages 7:8 Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.
Hank Williams had a song entitled, I Saw The Light, and the word go as such:
I wandered so aimless, life filled with sin
I wouldn't let my dear savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord, I saw the light, I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light
Just like a blind man, I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light
I was a fool to wander and stray
For straight is the gate and narrows the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord, I saw the light
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light
What I need to see in the body of Christ is a move from I need some light to I saw the light. Listen to me, we all need light, it is a constant in our lives if we want to see – spiritually. But what I am saying is let’s get off the milk and this is not for everyone, ---let’s grow spiritually this upcoming year. Let’s walk in expectation that God is about to do a new thing in us to bring GLORY to his name. Let’s declare that we are going to RISE up in Victory, serving notice on the devil – NO MORE! Let’s come from under the bushels, come from under the night stands, let’s get out of the hiding places and let those who need your light – receive it.
Know this, it’ going to take some sacrifice on your part... Let’s move from needing the light to sharing the light. Let the only reason we say we need some light be that we are trying to come up a little higher in our service and our work for him.
Remember! He will show you the way, why, BECAUSE HE IS THE LIGHT!
LIFE QUOTE
"Give light and people will find the way."
-Ella Baker
Let Us Laugh!
"A burglar breaks into a house. He starts shining his light around looking for valuables. Some nice things catch his eye, and as he reaches for them, he hears, "Jesus is watching you." Startled, the burglar looks for the speaker. Seeing no one, he keeps putting things in his bag, again, he hears, "Jesus is watching you." This time, he sees a parrot. "Who are you?" the burglar asks. "Moses," the bird replied. "Who the heck would name a bird Moses?" the man laughed. "I dunno," Moses answered, "I guess the same kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.""
Hope to see you Next Month....
