Greeting in His Name,
I first want to say I am truly sorry for this late release of January's blog. I had a bout with shingles, and it's been a struggle. Furthermore, I am in my last courses for seminary, ready to graduate in May - Lord willing, and I had to focus on completing assignments. But I am glad to release this blog, Manifesto. It is an oldie but a goodie. I hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
Some years ago, an ex-LAPD released a manifesto of his complaints and went on a killing spree. I wrote this blog post, ironically, because, at that time, I often listened to The City Harmonic song for which this blog is written - Manifesto. The tragic event was alarming, especially when considering the extent to which one would go to make a declaration. In researching the word "manifesto," I find in its definition that our very own - JESUS CHRIST has been a living manifesto. WIKIPEDIA defines a manifesto as "a published verbal declaration of the intentions, motives, or views of the issuer, be it an individual, group, political party or government. A manifesto usually accepts a previously published opinion or public consensus and/or promotes a new idea with prescriptive notions for carrying out changes the author believes should be made. It often is political or artistic in nature but may present an individual's life stance. Manifestos relating to religious belief are generally referred to as creeds."

If you travel through the book of John, you will see many instances of Jesus referring to himself as "I AM…" I am the Bread of Life, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, and I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD! Grab hold to that! As I stated earlier, tragic events like that of Christopher Dorner, resounds throughout the earth. It may not always be a cop killer. Still, it could be the blatant misuse of children by clergy, senseless gun violence in our communities, or embezzlement of people's retirement, like ENRON or, as I have been researching through church history, people of the mid-1800s, by their predictions, believed Christ will return October 22, 1844, or His apocalypse according to the Mayan calendar being about December 12, 2012. No one knows the day nor the hour of Christ's return [Matt. 24:36]. These are serious issues looming throughout the earth, but let's focus on what we know: Christ's manifesto; He is the Light of the world. Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life (John 8:12 AMP). How promising when faced with the enormously dark issues going on in the land. If we honestly look to Christ, our Author and Finisher, it is guaranteed there is Life in His Light.

Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live (John 11:25 AMP). I don't know if you have listened to "Manifesto" by THECITYHARMONIC. Nonetheless, the song's beginning opens with an awesome arpeggio on the piano, a great introduction to the music, and makes me think of this scripture for sure! The power of believing in a man who looked to Martha after her dearly departed brother Lazarus has been in the grave for four days and affirms to her another manifesto - I AM, RIGHT NOW, THE RESURRECTION AND LIFE. No one wants to die but it is the inevitable; you can't stay here. Death is a place or point in life we will all meet but what is most important is the mind and heart set in meeting it - DEATH. My personal declaration regarding death is this, "Lord I want my eyes to remain open until you close all the doors, windows, shutters, cover all crevices, holes and spaces of work You have for me, then Lord "You" close my eyes and let man cover me with flowers and the casket door, and Lord You take me home." Because Christ is the Resurrection and the Life death is only an outward sign to everyone else our mansion is ready for occupancy in the heavens; that's if, we are ready.

At the beginning, we mentioned that for religious believers, a manifesto is referred to as a creed. For some of us, on Sunday morning, we recite the Apostles Creed, maybe the Nicene Creed, or some church affirmation but these are not just recitations, they are personal declarations of our faith in the Resurrected Christ. One of my favorite scriptures and my personal manifesto is, Jesus said to them, My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work (John 4:34 AMP). I challenge you to sit down and write out your manifesto to the world of your love and devotion to Christ; HE DID! When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit (John 19:30 AMP). AMEN!
Live out your MANIFESTO.
