Greeting His Name,
God is so good. He is the shepherd that takes care of our wants. He is the help that is always present. He is the rock in our sometimes weary land. God is good. His love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness are needed. If we trust Him, we will find the peace of mind that is so desperately needed in a world that sometimes seems to not need Him. So with that being said, today's blog is entitled No Need. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
Our English language can be so confusing at times. One word means so many things; if misinterpreted, it can have drastic consequences. Last month when I thought about what this month's article would be about, the title "No Need" came to mind. Initially, I thought of addressing a person and telling them there is no need, meaning there is no reason, cause, or requirement for a person to do anything. But then, instantly, I thought this statement could mean so many things. It could be thought of as having no financial or existing need. From a spiritual standpoint, I thought about being in God leaves no room for need because He is all we need. So, let's delve briefly into 'no need.'
Most of you would agree that God is our ultimate provider. Because you know this, fix your thoughts and heart on Him as you read. God says, "if you would allow me to take over I will. But I need you to release all frustration, all anxiety, all fears, disappointments, sorrows, and grief's to me. Let go of anger and pride; because in Me there is no need for that. Take hold of your faith. Go to church. Rescue yourself from the pit of destruction by relying on me."
Go to church, hmm.. The word 'church' has been attacked so much, and the church experience is so watered down. We even make statements like "you know church folk", "all them church folk want is money", and "you can't put nothing pass church folk". I say all this because there is no need to go to a God who created the church and the folk in them if you have negative feelings towards them. We are all church folk. If you are a born-again believer, you wake up every Sunday morning and attend somebody's church. And I have realized that it's not the 'church'; it's the 'folk,' folk that have not been converted, folk that have not wholly changed or turned their will entirely over to the Lord.
The word 'church' in Greek is kuriakon which means belonging to the Lord. If the church belongs to the Lord, then the folk therein belong to Him too. So why don't we let God be God, and we act like the children he has created us to be? If some people enter that are not His, then you convert them by your life and attitude. Jesus said to Peter after he acknowledged Jesus as the Christ (Matthew 16:18 KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Christ is the ROCK, Ruler of the Coming Kingdom, and if He is going to build His Kingdom upon it, we should not use the term church so loosely. The church is a safe haven; it is a hospital, a rest home, and the pharmaceutical company that provides the drug you need. It supplies love, hope, endurance, and peace, just a few spiritually intoxicating drugs. All I know is that whatever ails you, God, the Rock of the church, has it.
The other benefit I see in that scripture is hell has no fury that our God has not already triumphed. If we take our communities of faith or our kuklos (congregations gathered in circles), then we can find a sense of strength in that circle, and it can only be broken if we let it. The enemy can only enter if we let him. I went here because, as Christians, we need to change our vocabulary. We say things in ignorance and don't realize that we warp the image of our God and water down such a powerful theology.
When we see our church right, then all else looks right. Or should I say, as we get ourselves right, we will see a right church. A church that looks right is one where there are no needs when we see the God of our salvation in a correct perspective. [Take a look at Acts 2:44-46] No financial needs, no love needs, no doubt, no hunger needs, no martial needs, no doubt, NO NEED. I should say more, but I can't because there is 'no need.'
Isaiah 40:22a says It is God Who sits above the circle (the horizon) of the earth. If God is sitting there, then let's stop sitting in the church. Let's bring the church back to a place of worth in our communities. Let's be the beacon of light God has commissioned us to be. Let's put our lives in order, as one of my colleagues in the ministry says. God is on the horizon, waiting for us to come up because He is all we need.

“I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back."

Let Us Laugh!
An old dollar bill and an even older $20 arrive at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired.
"I've had a pretty good life," the $20 says. "I've been to Vegas, the finest restaurants in New York, and even on a Caribbean cruise."
"You did have an exciting life!" the dollar says.
"Where have you been?" the $20 asks.
"Oh, I've been to the Methodist church, the Baptist church, spent some time with the Lutherans..."
"Wait," the $20 interrupts. "What's a church?"
Hope to see you Next Month....
