Greeting in His Name,

Thankfully I have caught up. Sorry for my delay. But you know life has delays, setbacks, and missed opportunities, but that does not mean we need to give up or throw in the towel. As a matter of fact, I learned some Sundays ago keep making progress in the process. And trust God that some delays are just setups for divine disguised blessings. So with that being said, today's blog is entitled That! Delayed My Blessing. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.

shalom and love,

heidi

Today's topic was brought into being from a conversation with a co-worker who happened to be a friend and somewhat like a mother figure to me. In times like these, casual conversations, I receive insight for writing. I can't remember what led to the discussion, but I remember her mentioning a gentleman she met before her husband. She said that he was - a delay. He was in the way of God's blessing for her. After the discussion, my mind began to ponder the question, "Was he a delayer?" And with that, I began to write.

I had the article all written out until I sat down at home. I pondered our words. I thought I would be talking about all the things that happen in life; hardships, obstacles, people that seemed to get in the way, or as my uncle would say, "a bump in the road." But during that quiet time with God, He made me see my delays in a whole new way and that He had something else in mind to talk to us about.

We don't want to see our delays as our fault, but nine times out of ten, they are. We want what we want when we want it, and often God is not in it. Proverbs 14:12 KJV There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Death! If not channeled from the Father, our wants and desires can be our way to death. Don't get me wrong, the scriptures tell us that God will give us the desires of our heart, but there is a clause before which we tend to leave out - if you delight yourself in Him. Delighting yourself in Him is pouring yourself out to Him, doing things to raise Him, and praising Him. Reading and studying about Him, praying to Him, fasting for Him to move in our lives, and even showing Him, without an obligation, that you want HIM. When you do that, your wants and desires are not ungodly, evil, or selfish. And as He promised, they are given.

In Proverbs 29:18 MSG, another delay can be found; if people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. We are used to hearing, 'without a vision the people perish.' Perish! What do you see? Do you see a bright future or bleak? Whatever you see, let God be the visionary of it. Our visions often lead to a perishing state of mind because we don't believe what we see. We let the enemy and ourselves talk us down until we have no faith to believe that our God can do anything. God does not see like a man. Thank you, Jesus! He has 20/20 vision, and it's always clear. If you don't want to stumble, keep your hand in His and let Him lead you to paradise. Or, as the hymnist would sing, let Him lead you ALL the way.

Okay, now that we have dealt with ourselves, let's look at the opposite end of the spectrum. There are times when our delays are because of others. But even in looking at it from this perspective, we still have to hold ourselves somewhat accountable. Proverbs 17:22 NLT A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Broken! It's not good when we encounter opposition or confusion with others; in your heart, it should always be to make it right. If it is not made right, you will be delayed. God wants us all to operate in peace. He even tells us that blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. I want to be known as a child of God. But when we face life and our spirit is broken and torn for whatever reason, face Jesus. Proverbs 16:7 KJV When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. God's main thought is that we love Him and love each other. How can we be at peace when our neighbor isn't? We can't if we are named children of God! I share with others whenever I can that I don't care that I have enemies. Excuse me - opposers. But I don't want to be called an enemy. I don't want anyone praying for me because I displayed wrong behavior towards them. If we could take on that principle, no one would have an enemy, but that's not life. Is it?

Lastly, Proverbs 13:12 KJV Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. When you hope for something, and it doesn't come, it is weighty. No, it hurts. Sometimes we have to say 'thank you, Jesus' because that hoped-for thing that doesn't come could be working for our good. Deferred can mean not yet; hold on. Even in this, it can hurt, depending on the circumstance. But when the desired thing comes, the delay is over, and the end promise is a tree of life. A God-good thing happens. Delays come, sometimes because of self or someone else. But from now on, look at your delays and identify that it is a DELAYER but not the FINISHER!

LIFE QUOTE

“If I cannot forgive myself for all the blunders

That I have made over the years,

Then how can I proceed?

How can I ever dream perfection-dreams?

Move, I must, forward.

Fly, I must, upward.

Dive, I must, inward,

To be once more

What I truly am

And shall forever remain."

-Sri Chinmoy

Let Us Laugh!

A father was reading Bible stories to his young son. He read, 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city, but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' His son asked, 'What happened to the flea?'
