Greetings in His Name,
By now you have settled in to the New Year and are still on alert due to the virus. Last year was a dozy, and much happened that gave us a craving to just be done with 2020 and let's start new in 2021. But really not much has changed. Personally, I think our minds are adjusting to this new way of doing things and by golly I hope that we are grateful. We could be searching for ways to stay connected, for ways to keep safe but thankfully some things were already in place. Thank God for Free Conference Call, Zoom, and all other social media platforms that help us to still be able to share life together. So with that being said, today's blog - of which is a throwback from 2010 (updated) - is entitled What's New. Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
God is awesome. I’ve come to find out in life that what’s new to us is not new to Him. It’s already in God’s heavenly vision, waiting on us to catch up. Isaiah 42:9 CEV Everything has happened just as I said it would; now I will announce what will happen next. Newness is happening all the time. Our heavenly Father; the Great Creator, is always making things happen.
Just for a minute; stop, close your eyes, breathe in slowly, relax, breathe out. Do this several times. Breathe in, relax, breathe out. Keep your eyes closed. Allow Elohim, our God who creates new things to overtake you. Let Him take over your mind-thoughts, your hearing-awareness, your heart-emotions. Let Him blanket you with a new you; a new way to think and perceive. Continue to breathe in, relax, breath out. What’s new? What wonderful new thing did He pour into you? Or what old idea did He refresh? Any time the enemy or your flesh tells you any different than what God has spoken, I dare you to do this exercise. Watch the God who calms all doubts and settle all fears enter the room. And bring something new.
For some of us, we have things we want to forget. Some stuff we have been allowing to invade space in our lives for far too long. It’s time for it to go. Our minds and emotions have poured out too long over these things. We need to turn over a new leaf. In order for anything to be renewed it needs water. God has spoken that He has released rivers in those areas of your life that are dry - no life and no substance. He is releasing a new pathway. Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. So I say to you, ‘FORGET IT!’ Press towards something new. Do something different! BREATHE… stop holding your breath and get in that secret place and BREATHE! Where is the book, the song, the poem, the witty invention? Where is that goal you want to accomplish? That debt you want to be free of? God has made rivers in the dry places.
Solomon said this, everything's boring, utterly boring—no one can find any meaning in it. Boring to the eye, boring to the ear. What was will be again, what happened will happen again. There's nothing new on this earth. Year after year it's the same old thing. Does someone call out, "Hey, this is new"? Don't get excited—it's the same old story. Nobody remembers what happened yesterday. And the things that will happen tomorrow? Nobody'll remember them either. Don't count on being remembered. Ecclesiastes 1:8-11 MSG Mercy! You may ask what kind of day was Solomon having, but you know what he is saying is all too true. In this day and age we quickly categorize things as “boring”. In today, out tomorrow! Things are being revolutionize every minute. How can I make it go faster, and all too often, not better. Proverbs 27:20 goes on to tell us that man will never be satisfied. Just look with me into the world. Men give up on women, women give up on men. Children turn against parents, and parents let loose of parenthood. Husbands and wives quickly turn to the lawyer rather than to the preacher. And let’s not get started on the preachers. Life can be viewed as, ‘how in the world did this happen?’ but really life is a cycle. Solomon may have been harsh in his wording, but he spoke directly to this age of man who are often more pessimistic - can't see what's new than optimistic. As Christians we don’t want to take on this frame of mind. The same old, same old. We have a God that I introduced you to in the beginning of this writing as Creator. We may be shutdown, limited but not our God. Let’s show this world that our God is optimistic and wants to optimize every moment of our lives.
You can not do the above unless you are open to what's new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Let God make over your mind, your heart and fine tune your hearing. What you may have done before is old! It’s gone! Leave it there especially if it didn’t work for you! Let God begin a new work in you. Remember, to Him it is not new, we are just trying to catch up.
I encourage you to search THE WORD! The enemy doesn’t want your life to change. He wants you to continue in the same state. You might say, “my life ain’t bad”. But I declare something NEW for you. Reach higher this year than you ever have. Dream bigger than humanly possible. Walk into your destiny this year but most importantly continue it for a lifetime.

Let Us Laugh!
A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."
