Greeting in His Name,
Are you who God says you are? Some time we may question but it's important to know that we may question from time to time but a true child of God will always work their way to their true identity in Him. So with that being said, today's blog is entitled Who Are You? Hope you find some inspiration, conviction, and queries.
shalom and love,
heidi
I was listening to a CD when I got this title. The preacher mentioned David’s lunatic experience, and my mind flew. I thought to myself that we all have had a lunatic experience at times and asked ourselves, ‘Who am I?’ It may stem from a tough trial, a breakup, a hard-headed child, a stubborn spouse, or a career goal down the drain—so we think. What about our own hang-ups? These mishaps may have brought the question, ‘how much have I changed?’ Life is good, but at times it’s hard. Any person who would dress up Christianity like it’s just a bed of roses (hmmm... a real bed of roses would be uncomfortable) since they met Jesus is exaggerating the truth, knowing Jesus can put you into some uncomfortable positions. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being SAVED, and I say ‘being saved’ because you have to work out your soul salvation. It’s an everyday thing. You have to work out who you are. David is a man after God’s own heart. Who had many triumphs. I wanted to say he had ‘issues,’ but I say triumphs because he is a GOoD example of having issues while walking in victory.
So, ‘who are we?’ The scripture says we are the righteousness of Christ. Sometimes, this may be hard to believe or accept, but the scriptures plainly show us that our righteousness is not in ourselves. Thank you, Jesus! If we had to afford our own righteousness, we could not pay. When tempted with sin, we often submit. Again, we have to get back in right standing with God and go to our big brother Jesus, our righteousness, and ask for forgiveness so that we can enter fellowship with God, even in those cases where we have been in that sin so long we don’t even look like ourselves. You question ‘who am I?’ because you know this is not what God wants for you. And in all honesty, you don’t want this for yourself. You know right from wrong. During this time, you experience pain all over because you know you are disappointing God and hurting Jesus. As the scripture says, DEAD because of sin. Romans 8:10 KJV And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Life Declaration: I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST!
We are more than conquerors. Take off the mask of fear, doubt, and unbelief. God has stated you are more than a conqueror. You may say, ‘Heidi, that’s easy for you to say.’ And I say, ‘no it isn’t.’ I have wrestled with fear most of my life and still do at times. Fear will grip you like a horrible nightmare if you let it. You won’t know whether you are coming or going. I dealt with fear through prayer and fasting. Whenever the enemy escorted fear, doubt, or unbelief before me, I grabbed hold of the scriptures, prayed, and fasted. Fasting lets your flesh know who is in charge. Do I win successfully every time? No. But I know where my help comes from, so I rely on God to see me through. Romans 8:37 KJV Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Life Declaration: I am MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!
We are suffering. Most don’t want to go here. Suffering! Get that word away from me! Suffer! But the only way to reign with Christ is to suffer with Him. As the songster sings, “If the storms don’t cease, if the winds keep blowing in my Life, my soul has been anchored in the Lord.” Put a hook in God when suffering is near. He knows precisely what you are experiencing and can ease all your suffering. At the onset of suffering, if you are like me, I cry, I can’t endure, and I definitely can’t see how my character will be any better. But at the close of a suffering situation or going through, I find hope. Hope that shows that my character has genuinely changed and that I endured. Romans 5:3-4 ESV More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Life Declaration: I will SUFFER, but I will produce ENDURANCE, CHARACTER, and HOPE!
We are saved. If you haven’t confessed Christ, here is the scripture to confess and stand on throughout your walk of Christianity. Don’t let ANYONE tell you you are not saved! Better yet, get with someone to let them know you made this confession and sincerely pray to God to lead you to a church home. Romans 10:9 KJV That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Life Declaration: I am SAVED!
After all these declarations, NOW you can declare personally that I am a child of God. Romans 8:16-18 KJV The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. We now share an inheritance with the first BIG BROTHER, Jesus! Life Declaration: I am A CHILD of GOD!
I wrote this publication because there have been times when I wrestled with who I really was. What mask do I wear today? Many hardships and disappointments threw me out of kilter with God, or so I thought. But I was just where He wanted me to be. I have declared Life is GOoD! “GOD” good! Because it is! It’s not easy. It’s not simple. It’s as that Walgreens commercial says, “If we were in the land of perfect it would be comfortable and effortless”. But we are not in the land of perfect (HEAVEN) but on earth.
